Use this page to compare dog-friendly lodges, hot tub options, fishing access, check-in details and practical stay information before you book. It is written for guests planning self-catering lodge breaks in Lancashire, near Garstang and Scorton.

Booking & arrival
Arrival, departure and guest numbers
The key timings and rules guests usually need before booking or setting off.
Check-in is from 3pm. Check-out is by 10am.
For arrivals after reception hours, we can arrange a self check-in. Please let us know in advance if you expect to arrive late.
Early check-in and late check-out are not guaranteed because we need enough time to clean, inspect and prepare each lodge properly. Where late check-out is available, it must be agreed with us in advance.
No. Cleveleymere is a private estate for registered lodge guests only. We do not allow day visitors.
Our normal minimum stay is 2 nights. Bank holidays, festive dates and selected peak periods may have different minimum stay rules.
Dog-friendly stays
Bringing dogs to Cleveleymere
We welcome dogs in selected lodges, but not every lodge is dog-friendly.
Yes. We accept up to 2 small/medium well-behaved dogs in selected dog-friendly lodges. Dogs are charged at £15 per dog, per night.
Dog-friendly lodges are:
- Dogs must be kept on leads around the Cleveleymere grounds.
- Dogs must not be left unattended in lodges.
- Dogs are not allowed on beds, sofas or other furniture.
- Please do not use lodge towels for dogs.
- Please clean up after your dog and respect other guests.
Dogs need to remain on leads on our private estate, but there are countryside walks and open spaces nearby. We can point you in the right direction when you arrive.
Lodges & facilities
What is included with your lodge?
How the lodges are set up, which ones are directly beside the lake, and what is included.
Most lodges sit directly on the water’s edge and have private lake access. Fins Log Cabin and The Boat House are set a little further back, but they still have lake views and easy access to the shared boats and lake facilities.
Yes. Bed linen is cleaned, ironed and prepared before your arrival. We also provide one bath towel and one hand towel per person, plus additional hand towels in the bathroom.
Additional towel sets can be hired, subject to availability.
Due to the natural lakeside setting, uneven ground, narrow paths, jetties and outdoor access routes, Cleveleymere is not currently suitable for wheelchair users.
Please contact us before booking if anyone in your party has mobility concerns, so we can advise honestly on the most suitable lodge.
Guests can enjoy free use of rowing boats, kayaks, pedalos, firepits, BBQ areas, lakeside walks, outdoor games and our peaceful private lake setting.
Facilities can vary by season and weather conditions, especially activities on or near the water.
Lake, boats & fishing
Using the lake during your stay
The lake is one of the best parts of Cleveleymere, but it is natural water and must be treated with care.
No. Swimming is not currently permitted in the lake.
Yes. Fishing is currently included for lodge-staying guests, subject to our fishing rules. You must have a valid rod licence and suitable, clean equipment.
Cleveleymere is a natural private lake, not a commercial runs water. Fishing can be rewarding, but it can also be difficult because the fish are not heavily pressured or used to being caught.
Lodges with direct fishing access include Huntsman’s Harbour, Lighthouse Harbour, Tree House, Heron’s Harbour, Otters Harbour and Badgers Harbour.
No. We do not offer fishing day tickets. Fishing is for registered lodge guests and authorised members only.
Yes. Rowing boats, kayaks and pedalos are included for guests, subject to weather, water conditions and safe use.
Children must be supervised at all times around the lake.
Hot tubs
Hot tub lodge questions
We have both electric hot tub lodges and a more rustic wood-fired hot tub option.
Three lodges currently have hot tub options:
- Lighthouse Harbour — electric hot tub overlooking the lake.
- The Boat House — electric hot tub sunken into the decking.
- Huntsman’s Harbour — wood-fired hot tub option.
Huntsman’s Harbour has a wood-fired hot tub. It does not have jets or lights; it is a simple, rustic hot tub heated by logs.
The hot tub service must be added if you want to use it. The service includes cleaning, filling, one sack of logs and pre-heating for arrival where arranged.
Yes. The hot tub cover is your responsibility during your stay. A replacement cover costs approximately £370, so please treat it carefully.
Do not sit, stand or place anything on the lid. Do not put the cover on the floor. Always use the lifter where provided, and always leave the lid on the hot tub when the tub is not in use.
Please make sure the storm straps are secured every time you finish using the hot tub. This applies even on calm days — a sudden strong gust of wind can lift the cover and cause damage.
Guests may be charged for damage caused by misuse, failing to use the lifter, leaving the lid unsecured or not fastening the storm straps correctly.
Practical questions
WiFi, food, shops and the local area
The practical bits guests usually ask once the lodge is booked.
Yes. We have upgraded the WiFi package available in our area, and mobile signal is generally good because there is a signal tower nearby.
No. Cleveleymere is self-catering and does not currently have a restaurant or bar.
There are good local pubs, restaurants, cafés and takeaways nearby in Scorton, Garstang and the surrounding area.
We do not currently have an on-site shop. Nearby options include Spar in Scorton and Booths, Sainsbury’s and Aldi in Garstang.
Supermarket deliveries can usually be arranged, but please make sure they are booked for after your check-in time and include your contact number.
No. Electric vehicles must not be charged from the lodges. Plugging a vehicle into lodge electrics is unsafe and can cause power issues.
Smoking is strictly not allowed inside the lodges. Guests who smoke must do so outside and away from doors, windows and vents.
If smoke odour is found inside a lodge, additional cleaning charges may apply.
