What to Pack For Your Stay at Cleveleymere

Are you coming for your first stay at Cleveleymere? Brilliant! We’re looking forward to meeting you and sharing our big and beautiful site with you.

When newbies come to stay with us for the first time, we get asked a lot of questions about what to pack for a Cleveleymere holiday.

All of our 8 lodges have plenty of amenities and fun features, so you only really need to bring the essentials and any creature comforts you might want. But today we’ll be taking you through everything you’ll need to bring when you stay with us, from clothing to phone chargers and everything in between.

Weather & Clothing

Lancashire’s weather has a sticky reputation but we think that’s completely unfair! Yes, it can be wet and it can be chilly, but we also have really nice days throughout every season.

From March – May, the average temperatures during the day fall between 9°C and 16°C. From June – August, it’s between 17°C and 20°C. From September – November, it’s between 9°C and 17°C. From December – February, it’s between 6°C and 8°C.

In Lancashire, the hottest month is July, the coldest month is January, the wettest month is October, and the windiest month is January. This is based on averages but is still a good guide to our weather.

We don’t often experience extremes of temperatures or weather, which means that there’s never a bad time to visit us. However, the clothes you bring should reflect the weather at that time. We provide wellies for our guests but feel free to bring your own.

If you’re coming in the colder months, we recommend that you pack:

  • Lots of warm layers

  • Waterproofs

  • Umbrella

  • Pajamas & loungewear

In the warmer months:

  • Loose clothing

  • Warm layers for the evenings

  • Waterproofs

  • Sun cream

  • Comfortable shoes

  • Pajamas & loungewear

Food

All of our lodges are self-catering and they each have excellent, up-to-date kitchens. You’ll find all the kitchen equipment you need to cook meals in your lodge and plenty of space to put your food (including a fridge and freezer). We supply you with the essentials like salt, pepper, and instant coffee, but we recommend that you bring plenty of food and drink with you or buy it from a local shop when you’re here.

There are shops nearby where you can get food. There’s a SPAR just 4 minutes away in Scorton village and there are supermarkets in the surrounding towns, such as Preston, Lancaster, and Garstang.

We find that some of our guests like to bring their own slow cookers. This works wonders because, after a day out on the lake or enjoying our free activities, you might not want to come back to your lodge to cook. These are some of the slow cooker recipes that we love if you want some meal inspiration

If you’re only staying with us for a few days, you can do a big food shop before you come and bring everything you need with you. That means you’ll be able to spend all of your time enjoying our site and surrounding areas. Plus, there are loads of fantastic restaurants, cafes, and pubs really nearby Cleveleymere.

Entertainment

We have the entertainment covered. All of our lodges feature loads of activities to keep the whole family busy!

Our lodges have books, games, DVDs, an iPod dock, a wide-screen TV, and a Nintendo Wii with games. We even have guitars for fire pit singalongs and you’ll have access to fire pits and BBQs. And, of course, free wifi is provided in all of our lodges.

As well as entertainment inside our lodges, boredom isn’t an option when you go out, either. We have a 34-acre woodland site with kayaks, pedal boats, rowing boats, mountain bikes, and more, all completely free of charge for you to use throughout your stay.

If you do want to bring your own entertainment, that’s great, too. Below are some of the items that you might like to pack:

  • Jigsaw puzzles

  • Art & craft supplies

  • Camera (you can post your photos on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #cleveleymerescrapbook and we’ll share them on our social media pages!)

  • Video games

Other Essentials

Other essentials to bring with you are toiletries, chargers for any electronics you bring, any medicines you need, details of any travel insurance/holiday cancellation insurance policies, any essentials for your dog(s), and any essentials for your children. We have first aid kits and hair dryers in all of our lodges.
